One of the most lucrative and prestigious careers that you could land after leaving college is a job in investment banking. It could be your life time dream, but beware it is no easy ride. If you have already but failed, then you will know how difficult it is. Even the interviews are hard earned.
The fact is that investment banking interviews are extremely difficult, very rigorous stressful and intimidating to say the least.
What is stopping you from nailing the Job that pays $60,000?
Being fortunate enough to be called for an interview is only half way there. The reality is that many candidates who are convinced that they have nailed the job because they have been called for an interview, face bitter and devastating rejection time after time. It seems that it is pointless sending painstakingly written resumes and online applications if you are unable to pass numerical, verbal and reasoning tests. A striking number of would be candidates simply dissolve to deep nervousness and anxiety.
How difficult is it?
Although you really do need an effective resume, you also need to be able to handle the interviews.
What it boils down to is confidence. You might think you are confident, but can you really answer random questions in an interview with complete accuracy and instantly.
Maybe you still might feel that you are upto it, but if you assume for a moment that you are fired questions in quick successions by two highly experienced and serious bankers who ask you questions like "How would you calculate the value of a bond? What stocks do you follow? Do you play golf? What's the best idea you've ever had and how will you top it? What is put-call parity? Tell me about a time you came up with an innovative solution to a complex problem. Without using paper, what is 17 x 8.5?". If can't answer instantly, your chances are slim.
But you can get the Job !
Getting advise from friends and careers advisers is of little help. What you need is to be prepared and you don't need to spend thousands of dollars of coaching to get you to the mark. Infact you can start with a free test worth $67. Just Investment Banking Jobs
